World Travelers: Asia (2026)
As part of the new World Travelers line, I was tasked with designing artwork for the three projects in the Asia collection: Pagoda Builders, Stacking Pandas, and Koi Tiles. Responsible for visual production from sketches to final deliverables; work completed using Adobe Illustrator.
Pagoda Builders
This part of the project required the original design of three pagodas that varied in style, shape language, and color schemes. Each building would be split into three layers with the intention that the pieces can be mixed together to create a customized building. The Pagodas required the most research of the group as I looked at design elements from China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam, pulling in architectural language and visualsβinterconnecting linework, intricate florals, and tiny dragons (obviously). The silhouettes of the buildings were most impacted by manufacturing restrictions as we had to be careful about places where the block would be at risk of snapping.
Koi Puzzles
The koi puzzles are a set of 6 koi fish illustrations split across 12 acrylic tilesβ6 fish heads and 6 fish tails, with the intention that the tiles can be mixed and matched to make new combinations of fish. Special attention was paid to the meeting points of the tiles and making sure the linework was near seamless when connecting between any two fish sections.
Stacking Pandas
After looking at a million adorable panda bear photos, three poses were selected for the die cut panda blocks. The blocks are flat on top and bottom to allow them to stand freely and be stacked with each other. The two horizontal bears are sized to be the same height, which involved a little bit of finagling of proportions of legs and arms to get it right.
